9 - Do I need
to have my flight booked before the
payment and final contract due date?
Your flight details and itinerary are due 5 weeks prior to the
start date of your program. We
need this information on time to
guarantee your pick up time at
the airport.
Airport transfer for study
abroad and internship programs is included for
all students arriving on the
specified arrival date.
The
first day of the program,
listed in the WISE Abroad website,
should be your departure date.
Depending on the program, due to
time zone differences, you may
arrive the following day or two days
later. The departure and
arrival date may be
within the same day (i.e. Chile, DR,
Mexico),
the next day (i.e. England, Germany, Spain), or two days later (i.e
Singapore, Taiwan.
Australia). Programs in South
America students may depart in
the evening and arrive the
following morning.
Students may arrive late but
must make sure to arrive by the
date of orientation and placement exams (you
will read about this in your
acceptance packet), and students
must let their country manager know at least
5 weeks prior to the start date
of the program. Students may
also arrive early but must
contact WISE Abroad at least
7
weeks prior to the start date of
the program to make arrangements
for lodging.
You
should make arrangements to return
to the U.S. on the last day of the
program, unless you want to extend
your stay in your host country for
personal travel. You will finish
your classes and all group
activities on the day prior to the
last day of the program listed in
the WISE Abroad website. Should you
decide to stay in your host
country longer, to travel on your
own, we recommend you extend your medical
insurance coverage, and make sure
your visa (if applicable) dates are
current. Make sure to contact your
country manager to discuss this
alternative. You may leave a few
days earlier, but at the risk of
missing classes and/or final exams,
and not receiving course credit.
WISE Abroad can not pre-approve time
off. Students will have to resolve
that with their professors upon
arrival in the host country
WISE Abroad helps you arrange return
transportation to the airport ONLY
on the program end date for the
study abroad and internship
programs at the students' own
expense. If you stay in your host
country longer, to travel on your
own, it will be your responsibility
to get yourself to the airport on
the appropriate date.
No. Pensiones are available in
Chile and Spain. Australia,
Germany and England, Taiwan, and
Singapore provide
dorm/apartment style living. Please
contact WISE Abroad before the
Contract and
Payment due date if you do not
wish to stay with a host family
or if
you wish to make your own
housing arrangements.
